What Goes Into A Flake Floor?
Three layers, plus the preparation underneath them. Diamond grinding opens the concrete. Primer soaks in. The pigmented epoxy base coat goes on next.
While that base coat is still wet, we throw the flake by hand across the whole floor until it is fully covered. Full broadcast means chip on chip, with no base coat showing through.
The following day the loose chip gets scraped back and vacuumed, which leaves a slightly rough profile. The clear top coat fills that profile and locks every chip in place.

If the top coat ever dulls after fifteen years of use, it can be re-coated. The base and the chip layer stay where they are.
Looking After It
Sweep the grit. Mop with warm water and a little dish soap. Skip wax, polish, citrus cleaners and ammonia.
Wipe up oil or fuel when you see it rather than leaving it. Put a mat under a bike stand or a jack.
