Frequently Asked Questions

If your garage takes a salted vehicle all winter, yes. Salt and brine soak into bare concrete, freeze, and break the surface apart. Sealing the slab stops that, and it costs a lot less than replacing concrete.

A full flake broadcast with a polyaspartic top coat. It gives you thickness, grip, salt resistance and a top coat that will not yellow in sunlight or fail in the cold. Polyaspartic also lets us install through the winter.

Square footage, slab condition and system all move the number. A single bay garage in reasonable shape lands in the low four figures. A double bay with real patching is more. We quote in writing after measuring.

You can, and a lot of the failed floors we grind off started as kits. The kits skip diamond grinding, which is what makes a coating bond. Removing a peeled coating costs more than coating the slab properly the first time.

Because moisture comes up through concrete from the ground. Seal the top of a wet slab and the vapour collects underneath and lifts the coating in blisters. Testing tells us whether a moisture-tolerant primer is needed. Fog and damp air make this a common finding here.

Flake Epoxy Flooring

Flake epoxy flooring is the system most garages and basements on this island end up with. An epoxy base coat goes down, vinyl chips are broadcast into it while it is wet, and a clear top coat seals the lot.

Garage Floor Coating

A garage floor coating seals the slab so salt, brine and water stop soaking into it. On Cape Breton that is the difference between concrete that lasts and concrete that flakes apart near the door.

Concrete Floor Coating

Concrete floor coating covers everything a bare slab can be turned into: garage, basement, porch, patio, workshop, mechanical room or shop floor. Same principle every time, different system depending on what the floor meets.
